Winter Sailing At Royal Varuna Yacht Club

Varuna is the ideal place to hone your sailing skills in tropical breezes and warm seas during the winter season.
Prepare for the next European sailing season while experiencing great Thai hospitality!
Retirees may wish to stay for an extended period to escape the European winter and get in some extra warm winter training in readiness for the Masters European circuit. Winter class training can also be organized for groups of sailors. The members of the Club are from many regions of the world and have a common interest in dinghy and catamaran sailing. At weekends the Club is busy with families of many nationalities who travel down from Bangkok to sail and participate in racing or cruising. During the northern winter months there are also many members, mainly from Europe, who “retire” to the Pattaya/Jomtien area to take advantage of the warm, dry (November-March) climate and participate in the sailing activities. Catamaran/Laser races are organized most weekends – see the racing events calendar With a sufficient number of visitors and prior notice it is also possible to arrange midweek practice racing. A seminar room and free wi-fi are available at the RVYC. There are also many nearby family activities (e.g. cable water skiing, diving, fishing, water park, go-karting, elephant rides etc.) and temples and museums to visit.Golf is especially popular with ten 18 or 27 hole courses within one hour’s drive of the Club. A challenging 9 hole par 3 course is ten minutes away.
There is a friendly bridge club (www.pattayabridge.com) that plays duplicate 3 days/week, currently based at the Pattaya Bowls Club. Comprehensive information regarding the Royal Varuna Yacht Club is available on this website.
