This first edition of the Varuna International Hobie Championships, as follow-up to the Top of the Gulf Regatta, went very well, with excellent wind on Saturday and Sunday and sufficient sailing conditions on Monday. Due to the Hobie 16 Worlds, scheduled for August in China, only a small group of sailors from overseas were present. Varuna Hobie 16 sailors were absent and about half the Varuna Hobie Tiger sailors joined for Saturday and Sunday, as Monday was no holiday. Courses and start line were set perfectly according to our visitors, so praise for our Race Officer Khun Sukit. On Monday a protest was submitted, but dismissed by the Protest Committee.
